View Full Version : amending "cd size" doesn't work

hi - I'm trying to encode a video using AVI2DVD, but wish to leave room for an AC3 soundtrack to be authored in.
so - I've subtracted the size of the demuxed audio from the capacity of a DVD, and then entered this value into the "cd size" section of the bitrate tab.
however, when I come to encode, the log file still shows cd size as being 4480 - which is the value that appears if you click "use default" on the bitrate tab.
how can I "apply" my amended cd size value? it seems that just overwriting the default value isn't working.
is there some .ini or .conf file with these values in? maybe I can just amend / append that?
any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks.

this seems a reasonably serious bug IMHO.
if I'm just being stupid, or am not making sense, then please say so.
otherwise, an explanation on this issue would be really nice :-)
thanks.

Hi WhipHubley,
First of all, please be patient. Sometimes an answer takes more than a day. Second, questions are not stupid, answers can be.
Let's go to the problem.
Yes, it is enough to type in the desired CD size to change the final size of your encode. But it should be done from the begining of the encode.
It always worked for me, and I usually do it with different values. (although I never do AVI2DVD encodes)
Anyway, please post your log file (dvd2svcd_log.txt), may be we can see something in it.

apologies for my impatience. I'm used to such quick and helpful advice here that I assumed something was wrong :-)
I now realise that this issue is only occuring when using TMPGEnc as the encoder.
if you use CCE then the correct value does get passed across.
here are the log files from 2 encodes. the first is when using CCE (which leads to AVI2DVD correctly passing across my amended cd size of 4350) and the second is when using TMPGEnc (which leads to AVI2DVD incorrectly passing across the default cd size value of 4480).
please note that they are both encoding the same video file.
here's the CCE log...

Yeah it's really there, I can reproduce it with TMPGENc.
Fortunately it is fixed in the new release, currently under test.
