dvr-105 sees blanks as audio 1.99GB

I just gave my brother my old dvr-105 and he has win98 SE. When he puts a blank dvd-r in it, it is seen through explorer as audio and 1.99GB full 0 available. CopyToDvd is the only program that burns dvd-r's successfully. The blanks that he uses are on the same TDK (BESTBUY's) spindle that I have been using with no problems. It is the Secondary master with no slave. Any help would be appreciated?

I have downgraded the drive from 1.33 to 1.21 and now all programs burns perfectly, however, I am still seeing all dvd-r blanks as audio disc in explorer. Burning programs see it fine, just win98 sees it as audio disc.
