Sorry guys, I really didn't know where to put that question. Here or in the subtitles forum. I chose here because it has to do with Matroska.

Anyway my question is, is there a way I can view the subtitles in a .mks file while the video is in another container? I use MPC and it doesn't recognize mks as a subtitle format. I've also tried renaming the mks to the same name as the video, just like we do to VobSubs, but it didn't work. So if any of you guys have a solution. :)

I know I should mux the video and the subs in a mkv container. But this video is not for me, so it is not an option now.

Thank you very much.

PS.: I made the mks file using mkvmerge.

Yeah, but not when you posted that. :p

In answer to your question, yes. You have to use Graphedit. First render the video file. Then go to Graph and Insert Filters. Open DirectShow Filters and insert File Source (Async.) then choose the subtitle file. Right click on the subtitle file's pin and choose Render Pin. Then you disconnect the main video from the Video Renderer and connect it to the DirectVobSub filter. On playback, you should see the subtitles over the video fine.

This isn't something that you would use for normal playback, but you could save the graph to load later if you were testing the timings.
