ok say i have a dat file which is basically a mpeg1 file and i want to encode it to dvd or split it into two streams but i dont want to have async issues and i want matching run times.

i have extracted the audio streams from mpegs before and i have had a couple second difference either longer or shorter than the video streams. is there a program that will straight rip them to the same running time? i have had them play great as plain old VCDs but i want to start compiling things on my HD and stacks of cdr's so i dont have to deal with 7 discs instead of 1 dvd.

i have the full gordion knot pack for ripping and i have Tmpegnc dvd author and encoder. i also have dvdlab but it wont take the straight mpeg1 stream to encode. i would preferably like to use dvd lab to compile.

i heard dat files are better to work with since the mpeg playback is more leinent to dropped frames and i believe this might be causing the playback errors.

also is there a program that will let me view and tweak the audio playback rate for me to fix the async errors in realtime?

thanks

You need to demux the audio from the .DAT files and convert its sampling rate from 44.1kHz to 48kHz. There are many programs that can do this such as TMPGEnc and BeSweet. Then use it along with the original MPEG-1 video to author a DVD. This should prevent async issues.
