View Full Version : Problems defining a motion menu as 4:3 pan & scan in scenarist?

Hello everybody,

I ripped an original menu and I'm trying to recreate it in Scenarist.
The menu is 16:9 pan & scan (I checked it with ifoedit), that’s to say a 4:3 pan & scan.
I have to kind of subpictures, wide and pan & scan that fit perfectly when the menu is correctly defined.
My problem is that the main menu (which is a motion menu) is defined in the track editor as a wide & letterboxed menu and I can't fit the pan subpictures. I don't have that problem with the parts of menu that are still images
¿How could I change that motion menu in a 4:3 pan & scan? I tried everything I know but it appears always with the W and L letters activated, instead of the W and P.

Sorry for my English and thank you.

Try to run your video file through ReStream (http://www.sysh.net/restream.html). When you open the file, it should have the attributes Aspect ratio 4:3 and Sequence Display Extension - Horizontal Size 540. If not, set these attributes, set Sequence Display Extension to change, and click Write to save a copy of the video under different name. Import the new video in Scenarist and check its Aspect Ratio property in the Data Editor - it should say 4:3 (Pan-scan). That's what you need for pan & scan video track.

Thank you.
I did it, but now in the data editor says 4:3 and when I drag it in the track editor there’s no W,L ,P options.
That’s weird. A moment ago I was sort of desperate and converted the video file with procoder, from 16:9 to 4:3 aspect ratio. The resault was the same as now. I get a 4:3 file but not a 4:3 pan % scan.

The weird thing is also that when I read with vobraptor the aspect ratio of the diferents parts of menus, the motion one is 0.7031 (16:9) and the rest are 0.6735 (I suppose that means 4:3), but ifoedit says that the whole menu is pan & scan and anyway the subpictures menu are only wide an pan.

¿Did I do something wrong converting the stream with Restream or is there another possibility?

I found out what was wrong.
Since I saw that the original horizontal size was the one required (540) I let sequence display extension with the don’t change option. Now I tried with the add option and it worked perfectly.
Thanks a lot!
