Dummy audio device?

Is there a dummy audio device in Windows?

Here's my problem. I have a PlayTV Ultra TV tuner card. I can only get audio when playing using PlayTV's own application. When using other applications like PowerVCR II or Showshifter or WinDVR, there is no sound at all (this seems to be a problem with the PlayTV driver, as a thread on other board suggests; I've tried upgrading the driver and playing with the settings with no results).

So I'm now using PowerVCR to capture video only. At the same time I also open PlayTV to play the audio (which is coming from Line In). And then I record the audio using Total Recorder.

The problem is, when I'm capturing video I can't capture audio at the same time because PowerVCR is also using/locking/hogging the audio device. And the reverse is true, if I capture audio first using Total Recorder, PowerVCR refuses to record video because it sees that the audio device is being used.

So I'm thinking of assigning another audio device (a dummy one) to PowerVCR.

Is there such a thing?

You have a PixelView card, correct?

Nope, that doesn't work for me.

I finally managed to record sound using an old version of Showshifter (1.75). However, I still need to control/enable sound using PlayTV application. Pretty cumbersome.

I've got to get another TV card next time. All 3 Pixelview cards I've tried have been crap (especially the apps).
