Despite what you may think from the thread title, the subject here involves no illegal activities at all.
A friend of mine setting up an event is getting demos from different bands to decide who should play at the event. One of the groups is apparently composed of profound dumbasses, because they sent my friend some WMA files that are locked cannot even be played WMP. When you try to play them it says the file is locked and can only be played on the computer where it was encoded. My friend has given me the task of figuring out how he can transcode (or at least just listen to) the files, since I know a tiny bit about this stuff.
Is there any way I can disable the lock on the WMA files or just get around it to transcode the audio?
