Im trying to convert some vhs tapes, but I get a constant
hissing from my vcr; one which I cannot remove by software without destroying quality, likewise cant remove by new cables/or the likes.
(the vcr IS outputting the hissing anyhow I try it.)

However, what I find strange, is that I cant hear the hissing at all,
when I play the vhs OR dvdr copy, but disable my reciever and use only the tv's speakers.

So my questions are;

1) How can I fix the hissing, software not included?

2) Why is there no hissing on the tv-speakers;
could I somehow use it as a throughput and remove hissing?

thanks for any help

the tv have less range to answer the trebles,
in the audible frequences, then you got less "hiss"!
the vcr have limits too, the noises from tapes are mechanics attritions
from the tape with the audio head...
noises when you rec and more noises when play (hiss when rec,double when play)

the receiver is great for high frequences, sometimes answer more than audible.
no matter if using the vcr or the dvd(that is a copy from vhs)
in the receiver you got "hisses",the problem came from the source!

but if your source and vcr are HI-FI, the vcr have problems!
if don't:
you rec the audio as wave?
try use filters (sound forge as sample),
then convert to the format that you use in dvd (mp2,ac3...)

Are the sound forge filters notably better than for example goldwaves?
Because goldwaves filters ruins the recording.

Yes they are. The ones in Adobe Audition work well also.
