Im using IC8 to downsample Panic Room down to 95%, and it keeps giving me a output size of 2.62gb after running it through twice. I used the hidden settings editor to set the output size to 4.45gb thinking it would give around 4.35gb. Why would it output files around 2.62gb??

No idea. Only Pinnacle could answer that.

At 95%, DVDShrink should give excellent results and predictable file size. Even if you're an Instant Copy fan, you might break down and do this one movie in Shrink.

The only other thing I can say is - did you remove lots of audio tracks in IC? In my limited usage, I noticed the IC seems to undersize more severly if you remove audio. My work-around was to pre-process in DVDShrink (remove audio, no compression), then put the Shrink results through IC. When I did that, my IC undersize was the much more typical 200-300 MB.

Instantcopy does not size well on low compression jobs, on a movie that needs that little compression, DVDShrink, or DVD2one will give you excellent results.

I went ahead and ran the movie through DVD-RB using Rejig and it looks just as good as the original which is a superbit movie. It's my first time using DVD-RB. Does Rejig with DVD-RB give better results than instant copy 8?

I have only tried RB two times with ReJig, on the first movie I could not see the difference between ReJig, and the same movie done with CCE.

On the second movie (Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) the ReJig version had the worst case of pixelation and macro blocking I have seen on any DVD backup (this was actualy the smallest of the two movies).

I do not know why the two came out so differently, but it show that even if you get a perfect result with one program, or combination of programs one time, it might not be the best solution the next time.:(
