It's not meant as criticism, only to show you this was already known for more than a year. For me there is no need to delete the message !
The more people who can benefit from the method the better !
There is one clear advantage on what you describe her : in my guide it only works with DVD platinum 4.5. You managed to use a newer version !!
kind regards,

I have tried this with a trial version of WinDvd and I am using BesweetGui. When I start the conversion process I just get a flash of a screen that says something about Intervideo but it is not displayed long enough to read it. The process then proceeds but the ouput file is only silence. I don't have the option of choosing 6 channel output. Does the trial version of WinDvd not work with this procedure? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks X, but I am still getting the Intervideo screen appearring for an instant and vanishing as the black Dos display begins. I have 2 computers and this result is the same on both. The page that flashes momentarily appears to be the correct one, but I have no chance to choose anything before it disappears. The output files are silent or sometimes says "file damaged".

Just another thought. Could my problem have anything to do with Windows XP? Is anybody using XP along with BesweetGui and having success?

No problem with using XP here.
And the method doesn't work with the demo of WinDVD.
You need the full registered version !!!!

Does that registered version require the audio booster pack? What about the alternate audio codec from The X? Anybody use this with XP? Has anybody else experienced the problem I'm having?

I always use PowerDVd on my PC.
When I had to re-install WinDVD (as mentioned my guide works with 4.5 Platinum only) I saw there are 2 versions of 4.5 . One of them is for XP only !! I don't know if that's still the case with newer versions.......
You don't need the booster pack !
If this method described here does not work, try my guide.
With WinDVD Platinum 4.5 XP (!) it definitely works !

Does your fully registered version include the audio booster pack? I am hesitant to buy WinDvd 5 if that is not the cause of my problem. On my 2 computers I have XP home on one and XP Pro SP1 on the other and they both have the same problem. The WinDvd is probably the cause, but I would feel much more confident if someone else experienced the same effects. When I create an mp3 file DTS-> MP3, the resulting file "plays" but is silence. If I create 6 waves, the files produce the message "file damaged" when I try to play with Winamp. If I create an AC3 file, the file shows a size of 0kb. Thanks for responding to my situation.

I have installed a registered version of Windvd 5 and I am still getting the "flash and go" of the Intervideo screen. However the process is now outputting the 6 mono waves from a dts file. I used a music dvd that had ac3 and dts surround to compare the 6 waves outputted. With the dts input, the 6 waves output are labelled wrong as compared to the ac3 input. When I get home from work today, I will post the corrected labels.

When using azidts to convert dts to 6 waves the waves are mislabeled. Here are the labels as output -> and what they should be. SL->LFE; FR->C; FL->FL; C->FR; LFE->SR; SR->SL. I hope this helps.

I am using this procedure to create Dolby Digital cd's by creating the 6 waves from dts and then encoding with Soft Encode. I don't know why my 2 computers behave differently than yours, but since I am able to produce the 6 wave files, I am happy. As regards the labelling of the outputs, assuming that Besweet correctly labels the 6 waves output from an AC3 input, I used an REM dvd that has AC3 and DTS. I very carefully matched the wave files that were output. I am confident that my resulting labels are correct.

How about converting DTS-audio cd to AC3 sound? I have a big problem... I have about 40+ DTS audio CDs... So what is my problem? Well, i haven't got DTS decoder... Only Dolby Digital... So i am wondering if it is possible to convert DTS-audio CDs to AC3 sound (dolby digital) like in the DVD movies...
Can somebody help me?

I tried this method because I just wanted to get six wavs from a DTS track. However, I have a weird problem in the last step in the conversion process.
My source DTS file is 3:33 long. However, when I convert to six wavs, the six wavs run 3:16, and everything is higher in pitch. What could be causing this?

Hm, I don't have Surcode installed. I saw that Surcode was needed at the end of the guide, so I didn't install it :p Do you need surcode if all you want to do is split the DTS track into 6 wavs and that's it (I don't need to put them back together to make a DTS disc, I just want the 6 wavs to put them into an audio editor and create my own custom stereo mixes)
If you do need Surcode for that, I guess that's my problem. My OS is Windows XP. I believe I followed the instructions exactly up until step 7 of the third section. However, I am also getting the "flashing" IVIAudio.ax dialogue as described by another user in this thread, so maybe that's causing the error?
EDIT: I also had the problem of the channels being misnamed in the exact same way bflora1952 described it.

Using BeLight (beta ver.22b8) i converted 5.1 AC3 to 5.1 Wav (DD-Wav). Then using nero, created audio cd. But when played, there is no sound coming but in the DVD player display it shows the counter moving.
Actually i want to create 5.1 Dolby Digital audio cd using the above method it is still in vain.

Hello all,
first of all I would like to thank to The X for his guide. I was looking for it very much!
However, I have some more questions. Perhaps somebody can help.
1. Is it somehow possible to edit a DTS track? I need to fade it in/out.
2. I divided the extrackted DTS track in to seperate audio tracks using ChapterXtractor and BeSplit. Then I converted them to 6 mono waves and then I created DTS waves using SurCode CD Pro DTS. Then I burned these tracks without 2 second pauses but when I was listening to this CD there were anyway short pauses. Simply, it was possible to recognize that track has changed. Isn't there somebody who experienced this problem and possibly solved it somehow?
Thanks,
ReyF

hi reyf,welcome.
when you converted them to 6 mono waves, open each file in any wave editor and apply the desired effect(fade in/out,flanger,everything as your taste)
after that, created DTS waves using SurCode CD Pro DTS.
i think(not sure) that with adobe audition you can load the six wave tracks at the same time and apply effects.
:)

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking about this solution but I was afraid of changing every channel separately because it might be a problem to change every file exactly same.
What about my second question? Don't tell me that noone tried to make a DTS CD from live concert.
New question:
How does it work? I mean how is it possible to make from 6 mono waves a 6 channel DTS track which has the same size like regular stereo track?
Thanks,
ReyF

hi reyf.
don't be afraid to mess the channels,BeSweet will name each channel.
the second question was answered. you mean about the 2 seconds between tracks? it's not a problem, only adjust the pauses to zero in the program used to burn.(nero?)
the last answer i'm not right,i never pay atention but seems that have the same size because you are demuxing the track and not encoding to another format.seems logical, read "NOW the Convertion" in the guide to understand what happen with the dts track.
maybe The X can answer with more precision for us.
see you later. :)

Cause DTS is a compressed audio format "like" mp3.... Wave is an uncompressed audio format.

I tried to convert a .dts file into 6 mono wavs with BeSweetGUI 1.7, but all the mono wavs came out over-distorted beyond belief. So I've gone back to the CLI for Azidts. The conversion to 6-channel WAV goes fine--it generates 6 mon wavs, as expected--but the files are mislabeled (SL->LFE, etc...). What's wrong? I'm using azidts 0.1 with BeSweet 1.5b23.
Also, the plugin seems to be transcoding at real-time speeds. Seriously, wtf? Is this normal for DTS>WAV?

This is a old thread. Now there are free dts decoders and don't need WinDVD at all.
There are also a free ac3 encoder (Aften) but don't exist free dts encoder then the last 8,9,10 steps don't vary.
To obtain the six monowav's downsampled to 44100Hz from the 48KHz 5.1 dts source there are many free methods. You can use Tranzcode, Foobar2000, BeHappy, eac3to, ... and replace the first 7 steps in this method.
The more simple to install and use is eac3to (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1004685#post1004685)
There are GUI's but you only need this command line to do the job:
eac3to 6ch_48KHz.dts Mono_44.wavs -resampleTo44100
where '6ch_48KHz' can be replaced by the name of your source file, 'Mono_44' is a name at your choice, but don't forget put 'wavs' instead 'wav' to obtain 6 monowav's

Yes, eac3to is nice. I have tried it, really wonderfull!
But now I am trying to decode the full information of DD+ audio track on pc and convert in wav. Still working on it!
