I'm sure that this is covered extensively somewhere, but when I use "TV" as part of my search keywords, it complains.
I'm trying to rip some TV series DVDs. I tried using DVD Shrink -> DVD2AVI -> TMPGEnc. The results were dissapointing - lots of pixellation and jerkiness during action scenes.
My experience ripping movies with DVD2SVCD is that they pretty much always come out perfect. So can I do the same with multiple-episode series? Can I somehow tell D2S to pull all episodes and create individual mpeg files for each?

what you're looking for is batch encoding
check the FAQ (last question, i think - or simply search for "batch")
I think you'll have to rip each episode to the HD (that is use D2S's "rip only (batch prepare)" on each episode separately). then after you ripped all the vobs you want use said explanation on the vobs (it refers to avi but i see no reason for it not to work on vobs)
as for an mpg file for a final result (instead of an image) simply use "don't create images" in the CD image tab
maybe there's an easier/simpler way, that's the only thing that comes to my mind

edit - seems chickenman uses a similar method, only he rips with DVD Decrypter

tip - search for "dvd episodes" in "VCD & S/VCD forums"

I use dvddecrypter to rip entire dvd
then I use Nero Recode or TMPGenc DVD to author each episode into seperate folders cutting out the end credits.
use dvd2svcd to re-encode them.
author all episodes back onto dvd-r
I usually get 5-7 eps onto one dvd-r this way. depends on series. IE: action or non-action.

Nice, I may have to try this out.

The simplest is to to rip each Episode direct from the DVD to a HD folder using DVDDecrypter. Thats just one simple step. If there are say 6 eps on the original DVD, then encode each to 1/6 of a dvd size (set CD Size in Bitrate tab to 740 in this example) and encode in batch mode. Yep, do as per the FAQ but no need to wait for the Audio to be ripped first. If your using the D2SRoBa plugin, replace the "E:\DVD2SVCD\DVD2SVCD.exe" at the start of each line with "E:\DVD2SVCD\Tylo\D2SRoBa.exe".
I also extract the animated menus off the dvd (they are normally within the VTS_0x_0.vob file) using DVD2Cut to litterally cut them out or DVD2AVI to select the bit you want, it extracts the audio and then use TMPGEnc to reencode to DVD. Takes a few minutes. If the menu is still, then just use the screen capture (camera) option in WinDVD or PowerDVD.
Then author the lot in DVDLab or Maestro. I've done all the ST Next Generation 7 seasons and the Deep Space 9 7 seasons that way (plus many others), all fantastic.
But ReBuilder now works with many TV Eps dvd's so try that, its a lot simpler.
Hope that helps.
