Hi,
new problem for a new backup...
Well, i started a new project : Amelie (Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain - PAL Z2).
This dvd has a strange structure where the menu represents the PGC05-to-PGC17 in the VTS01 (vts of the movie). In simple word, the menu is incorporated in the movie vts and not in the VTS_01_0.VOB like many dvds or eventually in a different VTS. So DIF4U demuxed it like normal pgc to reencode it with RA. After the reencode process, I run Scenarist to finish the project anyway... but when i play the movie in PowerDVD i got the menus without buttons... Nothing abnormal because of RA. It seems to need a reauthor step but i dunno how to do this.
Thks for help

hmmm... yeah seen this a few times ... although on my copy of amelie this isnt the case?!?!? why they cant get some sort of consistency is beyond me...

anyways, short answer is that you are going to have to recreate the buttons/commands yourself. it is the same process that you would use for a BOV (button over video) title, except that, depending on the complexity of your menu, it may take you a little longer to manually re-author this title.

i strongly suggest you read many/all of the guides on BOV before you attempt this though as its gonna get hairy ;)

good luck

Thks for the info jel
Can i use DVDRemake or MenuEdit to simplify the process ?

absolutely no idea i'm afraid as i have never used DVDRemake and i only use menuedit to find button commands.
apart from the BOV guides, you should also check out this guide on menu authoring in scenarist:
Scenarist NT (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/scenarist.htm)
good luck, and post back if you run into any trouble

So,
I tried DVDRemake to import and export menus BOV. The process is not difficult but doesnt work for me. After the creation of BOV i can't reach them anyway. I tried with DVDShrink which recognizes the menu like an extra. Well i tried to encode anyway and it preserves the BOV.
Now, i have to process the big 3... without reencoding the demuxed extras (menus) in RA. I'll come back for any info or problem.
Thks for all jel

hmmm.. hate to break it to you chief but i doubt it will work, as you can choose NOT to demux the 'menu' pgcs with DIF4U, however the end result will be that you have no menu, as those pgc's are integral to the vts.
so basically you will have to demux the 'menu' pgcs so that they are re-muxed into the final .vob file, and in doing this you will have to recreate the buttons otherwise you will be back at square one.
....unless someone knows a way to insert a pgc into a .vob? because i certainly dont...

Yes i doubt too :(
But who knows. I'll let you know but i dont hope too much.
If it's not working, i'll follow your guide which is the right way i presume.

Me again
I've readed your guide. I assume the subpicture step is a little fuzzy for me.
I have no subs in the menu. Does it mean i can skip this step to jump directly to the button creation step ?
thks
bye

i believe the reason that you have no subs for your menus is that you have the incorrect settings in DIF4U ... well incorrct for menu demux anyways ...

check in 'global options', 'other options', 'dont Vobsub PGC's less than' settings and change it from the default 1 minute setting and change it to 0 minutes and re-rip.

or you could also use Subrip, to rip the subtitle stills that comprise the menu.

which guide are you referring to? the one i mentioned was written by doom9, iirc, and i believe it is the most relevant as it is concentrating on menu authoring.
you could also try the following guides:
firstly have a read of the guide for the matrix by SeYtoN -
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/ButtonOverVideo.htm
and Influenzas guide
http://www.doom9.org/mpg/Button%20over%20video%20guide%20by%20Influenza.htm
and OxPs Infinnifilm guide
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/infinifilm.htm
and you can also search for 'buttons' etc in the forums for some other pointers.
and if your not exhausted by all of that, you can also have a read of the guide i wrote (look for the sticky near the top of the forum)

good luck
