Okay here is my little dilemma

I'm quite new to ripping, or at least i dont rip a whole lot.
So far i have been getting along doing stuff the way Doom9 guide said with the simple GK ripping guide.

Though i have not gotten ambitious and want my rips with AC3 encoded sound (should be the best i understand where you get all the sourround ect).

Anyways i'm kinda lost on what i'm going to do here. So if anybody can help me out.

I have searched the forums and now i'm just more lost on the process.
What i'm looking for is somebody telling me how i should approach it from GK for encoding...

Guessing i'm gonna rip the sound using DVD2AVI encoding it or ?

HELp please :D

Hi Swoop-

Yes, you'll get the AC3 audio when using DVD2AVIdg. Under Audio, set Track Number to 1, and Output Method to Demux All Tracks. Add the AC3 in the Bitrate Tab of GKnot (over on the left side, under Audio A->Select, and under Interleaving, tick 1x ac3/cbr mp3). When setting up the encoding, in the Audio 1 Tab, Select the AC3 audio, tick Just Mux, and don't forget to fill in the Delay if there is one. The amount of Delay can be seen in the name of the Audio File.

Hmmm i might just be a little wrong here but:

When i rip just as i have always been doing, i get a .ac3 file for the sound. Just never realised it.
So i basically just need to check "under Interleaving, tick 1x ac3/cbr mp3" instead of the next one and it's there ?

OF course select just mux but thats it ?

seems almost too easy :D

Yeah that's all you have to do, even easier than making an mp3. :) Of course you can also reduce the bitrate of the ac3 if you want too which can get involved, but I've found that it causes it to lose some of the dynamic range if I drop it too low. I think it's best to leave the file intact if you want the full dynamic range.
