XviD 1.0 RC4 codename Hola!

hi- just wondering where the codename comes from. i'm from south africa, and "hola" is a traditional greeting here. you hear people shouting hola! all day long... just curious.

From what I know Catalonia IS in Spain (I have a CD with a nice presentation about Catalonia). But it seems "halo" is a "hello" in a lot of languages.
I wonder if this "hello" means prepare, the goodies are just about to come.

All of the codenames for release candidates meant 'hello' in some language.

I had never heard of "ni hao" until the RC3 release, but it was said in an episode of Family Guy I saw a few days ago.

Yep. All beta names so far equate to hello. Beta 2 was swahili IIRC. Nihao is either japanese or chinese. Though they could have just as easily used oahiyo.

Your point being? "Konbanwa" equals "good evening". I'd say konnichiwa is a more general term than ohayou, is it not?

Ok lets just settle it. In order to be propper geek the final version should be codenamed with the closest klingon equivalent to hello. Xvid 1.0 codename "nuqneH".

As far as I remember, beta 2 was CIAO (Italian) ...

Never mind. The important thing is that Xvid become better and better until we'll reach the MPEG4 ASP limits :D
