Netmeeting/webcam capturing

Hi all,

I'm capturing some netmeeting video only. I'm doing it through Camtasia 2 (demo version).

I've got two issues:
1. Camtasia allows me to select my own encoder. I'd like a fast encoder with minimal loss. Some compression would be nice but isn't really important since the video is only 178x146. I've tried the "Microsoft Video 1" codec which seems to add lot of artifacts and noise.

2. I believe the capture is 15 frames per second, but I don't know how to verify. I can set the Camtasia frame rate to 30 fps (it won't do 29.97 - comes out as 28.5 or 29fps according to camtasia). What's the best way to figure out what's going on with frame rates?

It's not analog video related either. But we will try and help.

It won't do 29.97 because that is an NTSC television framerate, and you are not using NTSC.

My assumption is that your video is 15fps. If so, keep it at that framerate during capture.

I recommend capturing with HuffYUV. It is lossless, meaning that capturing and then post-processing for use after capture will not cause any degredation. It is low CPU consumption, important since you have an applications running during capture. And, it is free.

Once captured, you can convert to any compressible codec you wish, including, if needed, converting framerate. If you expect to only use PC for playback, leave the framerate alone. For DVD/SVCD/VCD, you'll need to adjust framerate.
