Hello everybody :D ,

Recently I've bought a new widescreen TV. Up until now I've used DVD2SVCD to make my movies with aspect ratio 16:9 (encoded as 4:3). But I want to make full use of my new TV and encode every movie in anamorphic (real 16:9), that is widescreen movies. I know that SVCD can handle anamorphic pictures. However, when I use DVD2SVCD, and I want to change the aspect ratio from 16:9 (encoded as 4:3, borders added) to anamorphic, the anamorphic option does not appear on screen. What's wrong? Or what do I do wrong. There should be 3 options: 4:3, 16:9 (borders added encoded as 4:3) and anamorphic. It makes me frustrated . I've tried to change the aspect ratio in autofitcd. But when I start DVD2SVCD, the DVD2SVCD log in the beginning states a bitrate failure. Obviously, the wrong solution . Anyway, it leaves me complete ignorant what I have to do . Please who can infrom me?

Congratulation to your new TV, and welcome to the forum!

Sorry to say, but you should consider forum rules before posting.
Using the search button you can find out a lot about anamorphic SVCDs.
And posts about basic topics have to be posted in the basic forum. You can find there significant help.

Have a good time on board!

Moved to basic.

Firstly, a warm welcome to the forums.

In fact Anamorphic 16:9 video is outside of SVCD specifications. Although you can make a 16:9 SVCD it may not (and almost certainly will not) play on your standalone DVD player.

If you wish to give it a try, there is an Anamorphic option available but it is "hidden" due to all the problems it caused when first introduced. That is, when this feature was added lots of people made SVCDs their players wouldn't play and the forum was flooded with problem posts!

If you go into the Misc tab and set your DVD2SVCD level to Advanced, you get access to some advanced user options on the other tabs which are not normally available. One of these is the Anamorphic option.

As I said, by all means try it for yourself but you may find you have problems. If you look at Q57 in the Q+A in this forum you may understand your options better.

Hope this helps
Nick
