VobSub & XviD 1.0.0 error

Hello,

I just try to read a *.idx/*.sub with a *.avi (1x01.avi, 1x01.idx, 1x01.sub).
When I try to read this *.avi, ViPlay (or WinMediaPlayer, MPC, etc.. ) crash.

Windows show the message "Send this report to Microsoft: Yes/no" (and it says "error in xvidcore.dll ).

I try this *.idx/*.sub with others *.avi made with DivX 5. It works correctly.
I try this *.idx/*.sub with others *.avi made with XviD 1.0.0 beta 3, and it crash the player.

But it works correctly on my 2nd computer ! (Only the image is vertically flipped, which can be fixed. But it doesn't occur with DivX 5)


I tried to look in the XviD FAQ, but I didn't see anything about it.
Someone know why it crash on one of my comp ?

No, ffdshow is not even installed (I just installed VobSub 2.23 with default settings. I don't think it install ffdshow right ? ).



But forget it. It seems that it comes only from me. I wanted to know if other people had the same problem.

I will try to reinstall windows. It should do the trick.

it seems that the problem is on vobsub.
you can try using graphedit to open the file.

avi -> avi splitter -> vobsub(xxx.idx) -> video render

to see if GE crashed.

if so, means you should focus on vobsub

VobSub has also been crashing for me under strange conditions where it didn't before. The latest I could find was 2.22. Where did you find that higher copy? It seemed like development on vobSub had stopped.

Eh... look two posts up, the download link is right there.

It's just that VobSub is now called VSFilter, can be found on http://sf.net/projects/guliverkli/ and doesn't come with an installer anymore (unless someone makes one, as above) so you'd have to regsvr32 the file by hand... and version 2.33 is the latest one.

i have just seen the downloadpage on doom9.org, finding that the vobsub on it is still vobsub 2.23......

But I'm a little surprised. I tried to find "Vobsub Configure" (to _make_ idx/sub and to _modify_ them), but didn't find how to call it ( "rundll32.exe vsfilter.dll,Configure" doesn.t works ).

I found VSRip_20030530.zip, and it does quite all the job (It _create_ idx/sub).

Could you tell me what is the commande to _modify_ the idx/sub ? (or do you have a helpfile with such infos ?).

apparently the project is split up into smaller parts...
vsfilter should correspond to DirectVobSub and it's configuration window can be called this way: "rundll32 vsfilter.dll,DirectVobSub"
i don't know about all the other parts of VobSub but they should follow a similar pattern (VSConv is probably what you are looking for)

maybe there have not been a tool which can modify an idx/sub file directly. usually you should OCR the subtitle to srt/ssa format before modify it...

ps: there is an easy way to open the configure window:
play an avi file and then you would find the vobsub icon in the systray area. db click and you would see the configure window:cool: :cool:
