I am backing up my movie collection. I use DVD shrink 3.1 to rip my movie on to my hard drive. When I go to burn it onto a dvd (memorex dvd+rw 4.7GB) it locks up at 22%. The drive light keeps registereing that it is reading, but the drive locks up and it wont even eject the disk. I have to restart the computer to get the disk out. I am using an i/o magic dual format 8x dvd drive. I have tried burning using NERO, EASY CD CREATOR, and DVD SHRINK 3.1. All three programs lock up at 22%. This is the same for any movie I try to burn.
Any ideas?

looks like a hardware problem. Perhaps the laser head's arm needs oiling? Can the burner read a dvd or cd past the 22% barrier?

Thank you for the reply. When I explore the contents of the dvd that I burned it appears as if all the files were burned to the disk. When I try to play the disk it only plays to a certain point. I am not quite sure how to figure out if it stops playing at 22%. What type of software would I use to track the progress of it playing to see if it does indeed stop at 22% of a normal store bought dvd.

Try to play the enc credits from the original disk at your burner. It is highly improbable that they r located before the 22% of the disk.
If u can't, there is definetly a hardware issue in the movement of the laser head's arm.
