You either have to compress them or remove stuff from them (or some combination of the two) to make them small enough to fit on one DVDR. Alternatively you could split them to two disks.

There are a whole pile of ways to do those things. I might suggest you start with a one-click transcoding tool like DVDShrink. DVDShrink is free, and there are good guides both at www.doom9.org and a www.dvdshrink.info.

If you recall, I've already pointed you to Doom9's DVD -> DVD-R backup guides (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdbackup-guides.htm) in your other thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73816).

If you look at that first page, you will see links to twelve step-by-step guides.

The first guide is described as "DVD-5 -> DVD±R" and is for making complete backups of single layer discs.

The next eleven guides are for managing Dual Layer DVDs. These are grouped in two sections: Splitting a dual layer disc in to multiple single layer discs.

There are two step-by-step guides for this under "DVD-9 -> 2 DVD±R"

Re-authoring / re-encoding a dual layer disc to fit on a single layer disc.

There are nine step-by-step guides for this under "DVD-9 -> 1 DVD±R".Time to do some reading. Underneath those twelve you will find a slew of additional guides, including guides for main movie only.
