Ok, what im trying to do is take a bunch of Vob's and split and join them where i want. I dont think the IFO or whatever matters since just the vob is what i want to play. This isnt to be viewed on a dvd player or on a disc. Im just putting them on my xbox to watch but i'd really like to cut and paste them together. Again its JUST the vob file being used on a hardrive. Thanks and if im out of line on anything please let me know. Not trying to piss anybody off.

Lets say I have a vob file that is 700 megs. I only want a clip of that, say 100megs in the middle of the file. Is there a way to just take that chunk out? Say you have like 4 porn scenes in a single gig vob. Is there a way to just get that one scene that is in the middle? Ive read through the forum and see how to join them, but still stuck on the extraction. I have about 120 titles of good quality ass porn and just want to make a greatest hits dvd for the family for Christmas. Thanks.

thanks for the info man. Ive been using dvdshrink,dvddecrypter,dvdxcopy, and a host of others but im still really new to all of this. Just talked to a buddy and he said im stupid if im going to do this with vobs and then not going to burn to dvd. He's saying i need to rip out the mpg and edit those and link them together so I guess im gonna research that now. Wish there was a simple solution but it seems the solution is as infinate as my lack of knowledge in this dept. I wouldnt make such an issue of it but it is really high quality ass porn like i said...

LOL. Ya it is interesting to pop these in. Especially at weddings when the whole extended family is there, but if there is enough captain morgan then it usually isnt a problem and everyone joins in on the fun. But back to my quandry, it looks as if you need the whole chapter to use your method correct? If so thanks for the help but im wanting to extract about a 5 minute clip inside of a chapter. Basically I want to be able to edit any slice of the pie so to speak and then make my own pie. Thanks again for the suggestion.

No, you can start and stop on any I frame in DVDShrink (I frames occur about every ½ second). To the left of the chapter selection dropdown in the start/end dialog, you'll notice little forward and backward buttons. Just use them to advance or rewind you start/stop position.

I was surprised by this myself a couple of months ago - used the program for ages and never knew it could do that.

Yes its true about the I frame thingy - just at the time I wrote the guide specifically for chapters. In any case it quite often happens that the AC3 is damaged by this process.

Yup, you were right. Sound is fuxored. Owell on to new solutions. I think my best bet is to extract the mpeg and convert it to a diff codec and then split it. Thanks for your suggestions guys!

Still quicker that re-encoding :
1. demux with Vobedit
2. repair sound with AC3fix (get it from Doom9)
3. make a new VOB with IfoEdit (DVD Author)

Thanks to all of you that helped. I spoke too soon when I said the sound was garbled. I guess since this was suggested as a possibility, I didnt investigate to see if I could fix the problem. It was the app (xbox media player) the whole time! I adjusted the DD settings and this messed some shit up. After I restored to default all was perfect and now the VOB's and their sound is FLAWLESS. Thanks again!!! Now the whole family can watch pron together. Im ordering a pizza right now!!! :D
