can a UK version Leadtek WinFast Expert XP/2000 capture from an ntsc source

Ok here is the gist of it I already have a UK version (which i presume is pal at least for the analog tv tuner bit) Leadtek winfast XP/2000 expert card

i use this to capture off my PAL video and off my cheap and nasty camcorder.

Here is my problem IVE just been GIVEN a very very very nice camcorder (considerablt better than what i have already) by my grandparents but it is NTSC! on the box of the tv tuner/capture card it states its the pal version does this apply only to the tv tuner for analog tv or is this for the composite video capture as well.

as i presume its using the same connexant 10 bit chip for both sources



Ie could i use the composite capture on this capture card to capture from an NTSC source (ill try it anyway soon but id like to have an idea)

there are a lot of people on this forum who have this card i know this from my last thread about the card so it would be great if they could give some input thanks a lot.

if you say get another card (i only and i mean only need it for capture off this camera and it would have to be as cheap as possible) also where from as im a uk citezen (although i buy a lot of stuff from the net)

The main difference is indeed the tuner. This is probably PAL only. But when capping from s-vid or composite, these cards can do both. You just have to set what you want on the decoder tab.

There are PAL and NTSC versions of the CX2388x chip, but the difference has to do with decoding stereo sound from the on-board TV tuner signal. Again, not important for capping from external sources.

so basically what u are saying is if i set the capping mode in virtual vcr (or any other capping proggie) to ntsc it should work fine?!

and change the settings to XXX x 480, 29.97 fps of course.
