Impossible task?

This may very well be a impossible task but I'm considering trying to somehow trick my standalone divx player into playing an avi instead of the VOB files.

This way I can rip the menus from the DVD and point the ifo files towards the avi file in the correct directory.
If DVD is not possible, could I do a similar thing for VCD, renaming the avi file to .dat

Is this me just sitting on cloud 9 or is this at all possible?

ifo files r supposed to belong to a dvd structure that requires the presence of vob files in order to work.

Since u r enabling the dvd player program when u insert a dvd disk, it expects to find vob files muxed as in dvds.

Thus if u mux the audio/video/subs this way and your video is in mpeg2 format u r creating a vob file not an avi.

In short u r way of specs. I don't think is at all possible with nowdays hardware.
