I've done last week a dvd for a client and I decided to try the Text Extension feature.

I've created this file:

#DVD_TEXT_INFO
TextID = JOSE DA SILVA

Lang = English
CHRS = ISO646

Volume
General_name = "Jose da Silva"

#Title1
Title
General_name = "JOSE"

#Title2
Title
General_name = "Jose"

#Title3
Title
General_name = "ABC presents"

Scenarist 2.7 has acepted the file and authored for DVD-R without problems or error messages.
I've tryed the master on several DVD players but I cannot see any text on any LCD display.

- I have 3 Titles on 1 VTS

.Is there a problem with the file?
.Is this feature not implemented on the players? -To be honest I've NEVER seen it on any disc
.What can I be doing wrong?

Thanks
Carlos

If i recall well, (i think i read about it somewhere)only the Multiple Discs DVD Players have this feature so u know to which disc u are. So its probably the players problem and not the way u authored it.
Please forgive me if i am wrong.

This feature is mostly intended for DVD-changers so you could see which disc is playing. However, all Sony players I came across support it, even regular single-disc players. There is nothing spectacular - LCD of a regular DVD-player is too short to display the full disc name, so you can see only the first few characters.

My DVD player at home is a SONY 715 and does not present any caracther on the display.
I've also tested on another Sony player (I do not remenber the model- is one of the same size of a playstation) and it also does not give anything on the display.

Maybe it only works on a multi disc player.
Lke the Medium and small Jacket.

Does anyone has tryed this feature before?
With good results?

Carlos

The text isn't displayed by default because there would be not enough space on LCD to show time. The only line you get to see is Volume name.

Most of the titles released over the past couple of years in Region 1 by Sony (Columbia Pictures/Tristar) and Warner Brothers have text information as well as jacket picture. I guess Sony is behind this whole idea of DVD-changer support.
