View Full Version : Flashing picture when encoding game videos

I use Fraps 2.0 to record movies of games while I'm playing sometimes and I'd like to be able to make them into divx or xvid. It seems to work fine if I use 1-pass by opening Vdubmod manually and processing it in there. It gives me an error if I try 2-pass.

Then if I try to use GKnot, the sound plays fine but the picture will flash wildly and skip frames. I'm thinking it's something to do with avisynth because I have to use ConvertToYUY2() or ConvertToYV12() to even get it to work. Is there another setting I'm missing possibly? The source video is an uncompressed AVI file I believe.

Could be dead frames?
FRAPS is bad when it comes to ripping..its good because its fast, but it creates duplicate frames to generate smoother framerate....the result is infact worse...open the AVI in virtualdub and browse it frame by frame and see if some frames repeat themselves..these will cause unsmooth playback ....:)

another thing...you never use frames to record when playing the game in realtime..its to slow for that...instead...do a demo-recording if you can and use fraps on playback of that ...
