alrighty then.... i want to encode an entire movie.... the problem is... i only have a 1.03 ghz celeron processor... which means about 6fps processing at most on a cool day with a fan on.... .... another problem is i can't take the computer up for over 16 hours while i encode an entire movie.... so i came up with the idea of using "trim" in my avisynth script and about 4 different encodes of 4 parts of the movie..... then i would append them at the end.... would there be any issue with doing this?... i wanted to ask some of you peeps before i go ahead and put my extra effort into this.....

Hi-

Assuming all other codec settings and .avs lines are the same, and the only difference is the different Trim commands, then there shouldn't be any problem joining them later on.

oh good.... i finally got a work around... ya know.... i wonder if i can make a tool that will do this automatically for me if i just give it how many sessions to break it into.... hmmm... what language would i use to do that?

Which format are you encoding to? Your problem is slow encoding and there are other solutions to make it faster.

well... i'm doing a 2-pass xvid of "y tu mama tambien"..... so i've mad the d2v... and i've avisynth'ed it into virtualdub with the filters that i want... i've even gone to fast recompress.... the last thing i want to do is decrease the quality.... so how could i also decrease the time?
