View Full Version : Long file names in ROM section - HELP

Hi,
I've made an Enhanced DVD project with Scenarist 2.7.

The rom content has 3 files with very long names.
One of then is: "ABC_Portrait of John Philip de Souza.mp3"

Acording to the printed manual, pag. 14-12, in the Layout Editor,
I choose "DVD Video with Joliet" and "Unchanged (Max 30)"

When Scenarist is recording the Master, it stops and tells me that the
file name is longer than 30 caracter. I know that!

I've made that because on the manual in pdf in page 241 it says that:
"DVD Video with Joliet Adds the Joliet extension to the ISO9660 file
system, allowing filenames of up to 108 characters... "

As far as I understand with UDF (DVD Video) it should accept file names until 255 caracters.

HELP!

I've tried to generate the VIDEO_TS in Scenarist and then burn the video files & the Rom content in Nero and works ok.

But I believe that is better to burn all from inside Scenarist.

What is correct settings that I should have for Scenarist accept the Rom contents with the original file names.

Any advice?

Thanks
Carlos

With respect, why don't you simply rename your file and then recompile the project?

Arky,

because the files belong to an aplication made on Director that is placed on the rom section.
The director aplication calls for the files that are placed on the root and inside a folder.

And, yes, I've asked the company that produces that aplication to change the names.

But I also whould like to know how can I solve this if one day I can NOT change the names of the files.

Can't you compile the project without the ROM section and burn it with Nero (with the ROM files manually added) in UDF? UDF has long filename support (as far as I know).

Yes I've done that.
But I feel more confident in leting Scenarist do all the job... (I'm I wrong?)

I've made a DVD with Nero, placing the Rom content manualy, and it works ok.

I've also asked the company that has produced the MacroMedia aplication to reduce the "large" file names. Mainly the name of some ***.avi (320x240) that are called from inside the aplication.

With the 2nd version I've re-burned a DVD-R from Scenarist and "NO ERRORS".

I've still used "DVD Video with Joliet" and (...max 30).

I remain withou knowing WHY.

Life goes on...

Thanks to all
Carlos
