I noticed the guide for this process has not changed or been replaced yet. I did not know where to put this post so I put it here.

A simpler way of doing this is possible but you need TMPG DVD-Author.

1) From the origional guide run dvd-patcher on your mpegs to convert to the dvd standard.

2) Open the files into TMPG DVD-Author and it will re-code the sound for you.

3) When finished after about 10 mins simply use dvd patcher to change back to your origional res.

THEN BURN IT

FOR VCD to DVD just open your mpegs into DVD Author when its done burn it

or, use Dvdlab.
.
Lab accepts svcd/vcd, no need to patch. It'll also convert your audio for you.
.
.
Note: I wouldn't use lab or tmpg to transcode audio, never been happy with the results.
