audio sync

I'm having trouble playing xvid's with ac3. My current decoders are ffdshow Feb 27, 2004 and audiofilters from doom9.org (contains filters for AVI/AC3 and dual audio AVIs) with mmswitch disabled.

Using ffdshow's ac3 resulted in major sync problems with mpc and very fast audio with zoom player.

The new arrangement continues to have sync problems with mpc (and no, I don't have audio time shift checked) and a bit of choppiness with zoom player. (I tried ac3filter0.7b, but it doesn't do any better)

I'm using an older machine with a slow processor.

Any suggestions?

try xvid niltze. set interleaving to 0 on both option if you use virtualdub

I'd tried rc3 of xvid, which didn't work any better. Is there any reason to prefer rc1 (niltze) over rc3?

Try this:

1. Uninstall FFDshow !!! (By the way: I don't understand why people keep using this filter, if they want playback XviD, DivX movies ... Perhaps I don't know something ... :) )
And install:
2. AC3filter 0.70
3. DivX 3.11alpha (it includes the Fraunhofer MP3 Pro codec)
4. DivX 5.11 bundle
5. XviD 1.0RC3 (not the previous ones)
6. VSfilter 2.33

And check if every decoder decodes only the own files ... (DivX decoder -> divx movies, XviD decoder -> XviD movies)

How slow your comp is ? (CPU ?, memory ?)
Try to disable all the post-processing possibilities at XviD and DivX decoders ...

I'm only having problems when ac3. Other audio formats play fine. Seems problem is the audio codec rather than video. Perhaps I should try to demux, re-encode audio, remux?

333mhz processor, 384mb ram. All post-processing is off.

AC3 playback requires more CPU power ... :( That's why ...

You can disable the postprocessing in the proper codec settings too ... and it will be the standard setting ...

It will not help AC3 playback with XviD's... :) I just want to you know that which filters I have installed at my comp ... and it works perfectly with every avi-s ...

Yes its for subtitling ...
So: I think You must buy a stronger comp ... :(
