Everyone here is very knowledgeable. I'm definitely way out of my league. I just have a question that I think you guys would feel is simple. I just want to make backup copies of DVD's. That's it. No fancy things with them. I've done DVD Decrypter, then DVD2ONE to pick whole disc vs. just movie, then burned it with NERO. For some reason, it just stopped working. From reading everyones' entries, I think you are all past that and are having problems "tweeking" your discs. Making them more useful to you. I can't even seem to get the basics. Can someone help. All I want to do is make a backup, and play it on my DVD player!! I have a 4x burner and DVD+R discs. Like I said, it worked for weeks, then just quit. I didn't change anything on my computer. Thanks again and good luck to all of you!

Welcome!

Need more info - "just quit" is not enough. Could be anywhere - ripping, burning, disc full, etc.

Please describe the exact steps you do now, the tools you use, the settings, the results, where it breaks down and stops.

Try this:

1) Start DVD2One, select main movie copy, select HD directory (Make sure you have enough space; 9GB free is good), Run

Does this step work? Check the output file and messages.

2) If this works, then use Nero, Select create DVD Video option, Select HD directory where files were written. Burn. Errors, OK? What kind of disc are you using?

Thanks for getting back windtrader. Well, what I meant by "just quit" was that it stopped working one day for what I feel was no reason!! I first use DVD Decrypter and send that to a file I create on my desktop. I have plenty of space on it too. over 70 gig..so the prob is not there. I then use DVD2ONE to compress the files and determine if I want the whole disc, or just the movie. In the past, when it was working, I've used both methods. Both worked fine. In your response, you mentioned to check the "output file and messages". I'm a little lost on that one. Not sure what you mean. I send the finished product from DVD2ONE to another folder I've created on my desktop. I don't receive any error messages from either one of these programs. I use the newest DVD Decrypter (ver. 3.2.1) and the newest DVD2ONE (ver. 1.4.0). I then try to burn it with an older version of NERO (Enterprise Edition 5.5.1.0.4.2) I've used this one because the person that taught me these procedures recommended it due to his success with it. It's at this point that I'm receiving my error message. It says that my disc may not be playable. It also at a few times said that it failed the video compliance test. I still tried one and it sure didn't lie to me!!! It didn't work. I'm using Fuji 4x DVD+R discs. It's an HP writer that came with the computer. The puzzling thing is that I burned about a dozen movies using all the same programs, equipment, and procedures with zero problems. Then, I just came home from work one day and was going to try another disc and I started getting the error message. I tried about 7 different discs since I received the message to see if it was just the movie, but no luck. If you can help, I'd appreciate it. Even if you can't, I thank you for your time.

Also, I forgot my settings. For DVD Decrypter, I don't really know of any settings I can make. For DVD2ONE, I have "constant ratio" selected and like I said, I've tried full disc, movie only and join. All of which have worked in the past. For Nero, I didn't change any default settings. Once again, it worked before. Hope you don't get sick of hearing that! Thanks
