On the PC you don't need a special card, any DVB card should do (unless some with built-in MPEG-2 decoding are limited to D1 resolution). My SkyStar2 is definitely capable of handling such streams (but it really maxes out my hardware).

SS2 works fine on HDTV content. It's also pretty cheap ;)

It could be too fast/joke/, I am using Athlon2200+ working on 1794Mhz SS2 card and SkyView program, no problem to watch on live and to record Euro1080i.

Hello, I'd too like to know if there is a pci card that can use the conditional access card from Euro1080 ?

Euro1080 or HD1 as it's now known, has stated it will be switching over from MPEG-2 DVB-S to MPEG-4 AVC DVB-S2

This topic is pretty old..

It's better to buy a DVB-S2 card now, yes. Unfortunately you can't buy these yet. Sometimes one appears on eBay Germany for €300 or more (from KNC1, secondhand). DVBshop made uncountable promises for a €130 Technotrend card, but I haven't seen it yet (waiting for months).

You best wait. Both the KNC1 and Techontrend card can be completed with a CI module that will accept an Irdeto module to watch HD1. A lot of DVB-S(1) cards can also be used as long as they use DVB-S, if they have a CI. As an alternative you could use a Phoenix interface with a softCAM.

Might want to get this while you are on it:

http://www.dvbshop.net/product_info.php/info/p145_T

It can do DVB-S2 (h264) also....

That's the Technotrend card I was pointing at.
