View Full Version : Deleting audio tracks on a multi-tracks DivX video

I have a DivX file with 4 audio tracks which are each a different language. The trouble is when I load it up, all track play at once and I don't want to use a special media player to play only track 1 (the english track).

My question is how do I remove tracks 2 to 4 to only keep track 1? I also need to normalize track 1 which has very low volume. Track 1 is AC3 audio and don't really know about the 3 others. I guess I need to strip out the audio first, then bring it in an audio software proggy to delete the 3 other tracks and then repatch the new audio on the DivX file? Would that be it? Any help on tools and steps to do that would be great. Free tools are even better... :) I already have Virtual Dub on hand if I need it. I can get my hand on a demo of a audio proggy if need be. Thx!

I'd recommend using VirtualDubMod for your conversions, it handles AC3 and other new formats better. For stripping audio, see Doom9's VirtualDub Procedures guides (http://www.doom9.org/virtualdub_procedures.htm) and this post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=339928#post339928).

For normalizing AC3, the easiest effective solution is to use AC3Filter to apply gain to the audio when playing back, see the AC3 FAQ linked in my sig for more info.

Hi,

a good alternativ to virtualdubmod is AVI GUI (http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~noe/Video-Zeug/AVIMux%20GUI/index-eng.html)

you could try this, too

you don't need to demux the tracks or to get a fancy media player, all you need is the morgan stream switcher aka mmswitcher :)

Actually, *every* player except for this crappy WMP can handle multipe audio stream files.
