View Full Version : TMPG grabs WRONG source file...!

I have a strange one... I am converting BMP files to M2V files with TMPGEnc v2.521. I have many original files with similar names. I save the BMPs as something like:

yadayada_1.bmp
yadayada_2.bmp

I save the output to another folder:

yadayada_1.m2v
yadayada_2.m2v

I select yadayada_1.bmp as source. The proper image is displayed. I click Start and the m2v file appears, again with the proper image.

However, what is really happening is that TMPGEnc is encoding the NEXT file (yadayada_2.bmp) into the finished yadayada_1.m2v file.

This is very odd... and the only way to stop it is to change the names of the source files to something like:

yadayada_two.bmp
yadayada_three.bmp

It's the last digit being consecutive numbers that seems to be causing the problem.

Any ideas...? Thanks...

Option -> Environmental setting -> Open sequence files as movie

Deactivate this Option.

That sure sounded promising but the check box is already OFF... Any other ideas...?

I noticed the same thing, too. Not only Open sequence files as movie flag doesn't make any difference, but it's always cleared when you restart the program even if you set it before. I just move the BMP to a separate folder before enoding in these cases.

Well it turned out to be a really big pain because I didn't know it was happening since the preview was accurate... and after building 20 images... times 10 variations between NTSC and PAL... loading them unto our website for people to download only to find out all the "Insert Disc 2" clips said "Insert Disc 3"... wheeeew... Well I was more than a little frustrated. Spent hours redoing everything...

If you look at the Progress bar during or after encoding, on the right it shows total number of frames. If it's more than one, that means it encoded few extra BMPs. Of course, nobody looks there that since encoding takes only a second.
