I need so some help...

I recently purchased a Panasonic DMR - E50 DVD recorder. It can record on either DVD-R or DVD-RAM. I chose to record on DVD-RAM because it seems pointless to waste my DVD-R blanks. That was the start of my problems ;-) Obviously when I record from TV I have Commercials. I would like to edit the commercials breaks out and then create either a VCD or a SVCD and burn these on to a DVD with my LG GSA-4040B DVD burner. At the moment I do this as follows:

First of all I copy the DVD_RTAV file onto my Harddisk
Then I demultiplex the VR_MOVIE.VRO in TMPEGEnc which churnes out 2 files:- VR_MOVIE.MPG and VR_MOVIE.AC3. When I then simple multiplex these 2 files in TMPEGEnc using "MPEG-2 Program (VBR)" in order to get my .mpg and try to load the .mpg in ULEAD Videostudio 7 I have no sound which leads me to believe that ULEAD Videostudio 7 can't handle .AC3 files
So I Then convert the .AC3 file in a .WAV and then using CDEx convert the WAV into a .MP2 then I simple multiplex in TMPEGEnc again and then open the .mpg file in ULEAD Videostudio 7 this time there is sound and I edit the file but this seems a rather long winded way to do this and it does take a long time to get it all together.

Does anybody know another way of doing this or 1 single program that can do everything.

BTW: When I create the .WAV file using Virtualdubmod I can't load it any other progam apart from Windows media player. I have made the best results sofar (.WAV) using ULEAD's Mediastudio but I only have the 30 day trial.

Welcome to the forums.

Most likely, you can do everything you need in TMPGEnc DVD Author (http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda.html). Check out this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=448116#post448116) where this has been discussed earlier.

Oh, and don't forget to read the FAQ (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43066).

cicreo:

The title of your thread is the first thing everyone sees, so it's always a good idea to make it as interesting and informative as possible. Honestly, many members will bypass a generic request for "Help!" I've edited your original title, but if you'd like to edit it further, please feel free to do so. Simply click on the "Edit" button in the lower right of your original post, then when you're finished, click on "Save Changes" at the bottom of the edit interface. Good luck!

Sorry if I managed to upset some of you people with my first posting, I guess I was trying to be to clever.

As to my problem,
I downloaded a demo version of TMPEGEnc DVD Author but I don't think it's realy what I am looking for. After I have Edited the film I would like to burn them onto a DVD blank in (S)VCD format.

I am in the fortunate position of owning a standalone player that will play almost anything and tests have proven that It will play a DVD which has been written as a data dvd, much like you do a .mp3 cd.

My main problen is converting the .ac3 file into a format that Videostudio 7 can cope with. I have found another program which does everything I want it to except editing. Movie Jack is the name and it works quite well, all I have to do is change the file ending from .VRO to .VOB and the rest is easy, almost to easy! All of you profs out there are probably cringing at the very thought of it but I don't want to get into this film thing to deep, I simply want an easy, effective way getting the films onto a DVD.

I was trying to post a reply to my first thread and hit the wrong button. Sorry for upsetting you people, again...

No problem. I wouldn't even say that you've upset anyone, merely that it's the Moderators' job to point out how things work around here to members that haven't been around the forum scene much. Many senior, and well-respected, members such as Dimmer devote a lot of their time working on the behalf of others with less experience. It's a fairly commonplace occurrence for a noob to receive a gentle pointer to the rules; spend some time reading older threads and you'll see that we're not picking on you. :)

Read the forum rules, all of the Stickies in each individual forum you visit, the Announcement at the top of the Newbies homepage, and you'll be fine. It's a great place to hang out and learn. I've merged your newest thread with the one that was already on the board, so you're good to go.
