Yesterday, I was manually splitting a movie using VOBEdit I was demuxing by VOB ID, the movie had 8 VOB's so I knew it would take a while, as usual I followed 2Cool suggestion on taking the dialog box to the bottom of the screen so only the blue bar at top remains so I can see the % complete.
Then I opened MS Media player to listen to some MP3's while I was waiting, WOW! to my surprise the % complete took off, at least twice the speed, so I shut down Media player and it went back to normal speed, the I re-opened Media player and it took off again.
The 8 VOB files took half the time to demux than usual, and also half the time to join cell/VOB files.
Now my curiosity was peaked, mounted an DVD.ISO in Daemon and fired up DVD Decrypter to rip by files, Decrypter usually tops at 10.1x but then I turned on Media player and it went up to 25.5x and climbed to 35.5x and slowly settled to 23x by the time the DVD was done, the log showed an average of 26.2x.
Please try it for yourselves and let me know if it worked for you too. I was not playing any music, only had Media player opened and shrunk to the task bar.
Is there anybody out there that can explain this wonderful time saver??
