View Full Version : Split movie into 2 CDs does not work + wrong audio track

Hi,

I encoded a movie with GordianKnot and DivX 5.1.1, and I wanted it on two CDs, so I followed the guide step by step. It took more than 24 hours to get my avi files done (very highQ!!!), and both my split files turned out to be larger than the avi file that was to be split (50% larger). Indeed, part_1 was made of the entire movie (1400 MB) + the first half of the movie with no sound, and same thing for part_2 (entire movie OK + second half of the movie with no sound).

I know how to split my file manually, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I did wrong when setting up GordianKnot.

And as if that wasn't enough, I got the wrong audio file. Is there any simple way I can fix that (delete audio, extract the right audio track from DVD and append it to video)? I tried to look on the forum but found nothing, there are so many pages it would take days for me to find what I want, asuming that it exists. Anyone's got a good link to a guide?

BTW, when I had to choose the audio track, I thought I was choosing English, but it was portuguese! Only I found out after my movie was encoded. Is there any way I can "pre-hear" the audio track before I select it? Because GordianKnot does not display the language explicitely.

Thanks a lot!

Hi-

To fix that splitting problem for the future, upgrade your GKnot. It's 0.28.7.2 at the moment. To fix the movie you have now, split the unsplit version manually. But you didn't do anything wrong really, except not follow the threads that have mentioned this before.

To get the right audio track before encoding, when getting the .d2v from DVD2AVI, go Output Method->Demux All Tracks, and then listen to them in turn until you find the one you want. You can replace the wrong audio with the right audio in the movie you have already either in VDubMod or NanDub. You don't have to Delete the audio that's there now, but only replace it in one operation. If you need further instructions, just ask. But it's pretty easy to figure out.

And the Stream List that DVDDecrypter gives you will tell you which languages of audio are on the DVD, and how they are numbered.

The same thing happened to me today. I made a 1400mb file, set it to 2 CDs, told it to split but for some reason it made two 2,05gb files. :D

The manual splitting is done in virtualdubmod?

I set Segment output file and use "direct stream copy". Is that correct? Thanks.

Hi-

Yes, you use Direct Stream Copy. If by Segment Output, you mean that you cut out the part that you didn't want, then yes again.
