A strende error occured during backupping America Pie1. I've reencoded the menu and used the big 3 to make a backup of this DVD. Everything worked fine but at the end the menu did not work. I've tried without encoding the menu but the resut is the same. I can not move out from the menu picture. Nothing will be highlighted so nothing to shoose. I've used the original VTS1 set and muxed with the reencoded menu. Now the menu works properly. It looks like somehow that the all VTS1 set is used in menu. If I reencode and reathor the VTS1 set the menu will not work. The main movie is in VTS5.
It means I can not compress VTS1 set or I'm doing something wrong??

Thanks for any suggestions!

hi molmik,
what exactly is in VTS_01? i will assume it is some form of 'warning' or logo that gets played prior to the main menu starting?
Are you re-encoding VTS_01 or stripping it?
Have you correctly used IfoUpdate after reauthoring?
Sorry, need a bit more info about the ifo structure to offer better advice.
cheers

VTS_01 means the 1st video set on DVD. After usinf DoitFast4U we are ending up with several VTS sets. VIDEO_TS, VTS_01, VTS_02 etc. From this set VTS_01 contains several video files palyed during menu navigation.

Well, using NuMenu4U it is pretty easy and strait forward to use IFoUpdate. So far every movie I've tried to re-encode worked fine, not to many. :(

Now, I've prepared the original movie replaced the menu with a re-encoded one and used this image to re-encode only VTS_02, VTS_03... etc. keeping the original VTS_01 set. It shoul work uot fine but I'm waisting some extra bite leaving VTS_01 set expanded.

Thanks for any suggestion. Sorry, but I'm not an expert on this field. :(

okay chief ...well its not quite what i was asking but anyways....

well, menus are located (usually.....always?!?!) in the vts_**_0.vobs and would be re-encoded by NuMenu4U if they satisfied the minimum threshold requirements.
there may, however, be other video that is in the vts_**_1.vob that is being referenced prior to the menu or following a selection in a menu.
the way you can confirm this for me is to open your original DVD (mounted through Daemon Tools) in Ifoedit. Then select 'DVD Play' and take note of what is listed in the display (for example Video Manager, Title 03 etc) for all items that play prior to the start of the menu.
Then cross check the Titles that are played to the VTSes.

although i am not positive i believe there may be an error in the ifoupdate that is causing your menu to not work when you include the re-encoded VTS_01. if you are unfamiliar with the technique of using Ifoupdate manually, i strongly suggest you do some reading on the matter. see here:
An easier way to do the IFOUpdate step - By Eyes`Only (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63841)

hope that helps

out of interest what size is your original VTS_01 vob size?

The original VTS_o1.vob size is 700 MB.
Thanks for your help. I will read the suggested reference.
