Normally I use GordianKnot with DIVX for movies that are interesting for me (and I get a really good quality) but AGK migth be a fast way to code a movie when I don't have time to play around with the movie.

Currently I'm coding some movies using XVID 1.0 RC3 and AGK. The results are good (good quality and easy!!) but I realized that, at least in my tests, that XVID is slower than DIVX (I did several movies twice, one using xvid 1.0rc3 and another using divx 5.1.1Pro)

I've codec some movies manually using XVID 1.0rc3/GK/VirtualDubMod/etc and the coding is slow too (faster if I use **Turbo** option). I must admit that I know little about xvid but I fallow several xvid 1.0 guides.

So my question is: why xvid coding is so slow? (at least for me)

And thx to len0x by AGK (it's a nice tool)

Cheerio!

On My machine which is in my sig oc a little to 3329 with HT on

i get 65 fps ish on autogk encoding in Divx5.1.1pro startrek DS9 encoding the same ep in xvid koepi (non XVID 1.0) i get about 25-30 with Xvid 1.0 rc3 i get 55-60 on pass 1 and 35-40 on pass two with whatever settings autogk uses

this is for the same episode and the same audiosettings

JEREMY

so the old xvid on my machine is certainly slower the new one is a lot better but still slightly slower (quality wise XVID seems to be a lot better than divx on AUTOGK for small file sizes ie 4 eps a cd 175 mb an episode)

ive asked lenox about turbo mode and whether he could enable it by default from autogks settings or its defaults but to be fair 55 fps and more is double real time for me so im happy (im PAL)
