OK, im backing up fawlty towers series 1 and 2, now im not re-encoding them due to the fact each episode would have a avg bitrate of about 2500, which to me is too low for main features, plus the episodes are interlaced and the original picture quality aint great. So im splitting the discs with 3 epiosoes on each disc with menus intact.
Now ive tryed with ifoedit but i had nav problems, disc two only wanting to play one episode. 2Cool suggested i add some blank clips. So as i dont know how to make blanks clips or do that manually i was wondering if i demux with dif4u and untick the episodes i want to removed > reauthorist script > scenarist > output files, as reauthorist would replace the unticked epiosdes with sort dummy clips, then update the ifos with ifoupdate. Would this give me a working disc, same as what i had with ifoedit but without the nav problems due to the dummy clips ??

I've done episode discs a few time now mate, infact I've got fawlty towers on the way this next week so maybe we can help each other. I have found only last week, that for episode discs, especially if you're splitting them in the way I like to do it ie 3 eps on each disc, you simply cannot beat that new program DVDReMake from DimadSoft. It's the absolout dog nadgers at that sort of thing. It took me just under 3 hours to do Red Dwarf series 1,2,3+4! It's only £14 and is well worth it. I'd do it that way now for sure, but then again, I had £14 to buy the proggy. To answer your question though, if thats the way you wanna do it, Yes, that should work providing that the episodes aren't all linked together in a single PGC and that the episode PGC's are just references to places in that One big PGC. If this is the case then you'll have to use the proggy I mentioned. I've done the Blackadder series' in the way you are trying and it has worked but not all BBC DVD's are done the same way I have found. Try it anyway, Untick the first 3 or the last 3 PGC's and see if it works. It's a lot of waiting though if it doesn't. My recommendation is to invest in DVDReMake
Hope this helps m8

OK, i had a bash at it last night. Unticked the first 3 episodes, then on to reauthorist which replaced the missing episodes with sort dummy tracks, hit author to give me a script. Before importing the script into scenarist though u need to open the script and use the find command, as it has the m2v's down as mpv as thats what they would be when encode. You need to change .mpv to m2v, but only the episodes as the dummys are mpvs.
Imported the script into scenarist, then once done output the new files > on to the ifoupdate section then its done.I now have a disc with has the last 3 episodes on but without the nav problems due to the fact that the first 3 episodes have been replaced with dummy clips.
