I don' like aac , since i can't hear it from my amplifier when i link my pc to it through the spdif output... it is a well known problem.
How can i convert correctly a AAC 5.1 to AC3 5.1? I'm looking for a guide but i find nothing, even on doom9.org

Decode to wav with FAAD2, and then encode to AC3.

You can playback the AAC and reencode to AC3 on the fly using DolbyOutDS by Han. See the AAC FAQ #12 linked in my sig.

thanks, i try it but it seems that it still doesn't work.. :-(
i launch the reg.bat file of thi filter.
I use TCMP and if i click on the green arrow om my systray i can see that the Dolby Out DS filter is active.
While when an avi with audio ac3 5.1 is playing i can hear a 5.1 sound (the amplifier recognize that) , now , even with this new filter, the sound is still stereo :-(( and i'm sure that it is 5.1
Do i have to set up correctly the other filters? in example the matrix mixer? or the CoreAAC? in the latter the "downmix to 2 channels" is deactivated. In the matrix mixer the "3/2 5.1 channels output " is selected.
For the DolbyOut DS I select the 640 kbps .

Note that DolbyOutDS is reported to work only with 48KHz input for now. Please be patient ;)

are you the creator of DolbyOutDS? Nice to meet you! :-)
i try different mkv with audio aac 5.1, and i'm sure that some of them are 48 kHz.
But it still doesn't work!
I see that the direct vob sub loads this filter (as i said before).
Is there anything i can do?
do you have some little example of aac 5.1 audio i can try to work with this filter?

Normally you don't have to use Matrix Mixer.
Actually, if DolbyOutDS is loaded it means that he has a 6 channel input, and since it does support only 6 channel output it's strange that your sound is stereo. Have you tried to play a AC3 file to see if it is not a problem with your SPDIF connection ? If you have, maybe you may try to deregister Matrix Mixer, just for testing...

yes, the ac3 files play correctly. I hear them without problems for a long time. I'll try to deregister Matrix mixer...
The strange is that not for all mkv + aac 5.1 the DolbyOutDS filter seems to be loaded , even if they are 48 khz....
i can see if it is present in the DirectVob Sub green arrow

Lupo,
use graphedit to test all the filter connections until this works stable, then try to reproduce it with TCMP or another player ....

great!! Chrsitian, can i kiss you? :p
i dw and use graphedit, a wonderful and powerful program: congratulations to its creator!
Now my amplifier, through the SPDIF output, recognize the 5.1 audio thanks to Haan's filter: but only when i use graphedit! i see that the DolbyOutDS is the last box before my sound card device (Extigy). And before Dolbyoytds there is Matrix mixer, as i expected.
What can i do to listen correctly even with TCMP without launching graphedit? i'm near to solve this problem, please help me!! So i will never convert more the aac into ac3...
Really i can't understand why does the haan's filter work with graphedit and without it not... Damn!!! it seems a joke, isn't it?

You're congratulating Micro$oft? :P
You can use mmview to unregister filters that are getting in the way of your desired filters.
