big 3 are dead

...no new version since month. docce4u is dead...reauthorist is dead...dif4u becomes something like shareware (no release since 4 month)

...ok i understand the coders had to do something else in rl...but why is there an extra forum for these tools if there is nothing new to say

Use batchCCEWS instead of docce4u if you want a newer version.

If you are not happy with the lack of updates for dif4u then pay some money, it is not a lot and all the features in the later releases make it more than worth the money. Plus it shows that you appreciate the work that has been put into it.

Scenaid does all that reauthorist does and more so use that instead.

Eyes is releasing a new version like once every two weeks (just because you have to pay for them, it makes it dead?!? dead to you if havent donated, maybe, but not for the tons of people that have) Scenaid is being updated regularly (the heir apparent to reauthorist) BBWoof is away but nothing says there isnt a new update in the works.. if the current version works , then really there isnt a reason for an update. And of course the biggest thing is usage. even if 10 years passed between updates, if people are still using it they will have questions and there are constant new posts in this forum. (and constant questions on the irc chan as well)

I'll be waiting patiently for my chance at a 'toke' . respect.

now this might service the needs of the many but there will always be a select few (thousands?!?!?) who choose the flexibility and power of the tools avaliable in this forum to make the 'best' DVD back-ups possible.

this thread is an affront to not only the authors of these excellent applications, who take time out of their working AND social life (and what is a few dollars donation compared to the rewards?) but also the many forum members who use these tools, and help out fellow users on a DAILY basis.


as previously stated, Eyes`Only is releasing updates by the hour. D3s7s' Scenaid is becoming the scripting tool of choice, Zuel is perfecting the art of re-encoding menus using scenarist to re-author (and i challenge anyone to try THAT manually), while BBWoofs excellent utilities already provide users with all the features they could need (i cant remember the last thread that asked for any updates?)

enough said.

lets close this thread and get back to the business of protecting our assets....

oh, and one last comment. in the immortal words of morrisey

Ok I can't help but reply:

First of: you're very unrespectful to the authors of the different apps. Please keep in mind that those programs are made by people that have no commercial gain by it. They have regular jobs and do this on the side in their own valuable spare time. lots of people have benefited from their efforts to provide you with a high quality backup method.

Yes there have not been very much public updates of dif4u lately. The VIP members have received updates and I can assure you that there is work in progress.

Reauthorist has not been worked on for a long time. As most people who care know, that has to do with personal problems of the author. Still it does an incredible job for a program that has been without maintenance for so long. Scenaid will replace the functionality of creating a scenarist script to make automated backups.

Docce4u and batchccews serve their purpose quite well and yes those have not been updated for quitse some time. Although Bbwoof was kind enough to fix an urgent bug, concerning people using cce 2.67 and up. But you're probably aware of that.

And on a last note: by saying the big3 are dead you imply that a lot of work still needs to be done. So therefore I assume you have the mailboxes of the respective authors flooded with emails full of usefull suggestions and bug reports.
