Capturing from 8mm camcorder via ASUS 9520 video suite (Geforce FX5200) to convert to DVD. Using Virtualdub to capture with and without compression (Huffyuv V2.1.1) no dropped frames, but captured AVI is poor quality on movement i.e person walking across screen, outline of object has blocky appearance until object is still (probably some technical name for it!). When converted to MPEG2 via TMPGenc Plus output is better but still blocky problems on movement.

Any ideas? Have set up VirtualDub as described in forum guide.

Thanks in advance

"Sounds" like interlace artifacts. See deinterlacing advice in the Capture Guide.
