I am trying to burn dvd's from video shop.. I am using DVD Shrink 3.1, but half way through it stops encoding, saying the dvd has a I/O Protection device. Is there any way around this?

First of all, you should check whether what you're doing is legal in your country. If yes, then read the guides (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdbackup-guides.htm) and rip the DVD to HDD before shrinking, otherwise don't mention it around here.
