Hi all,

I love the ParseD2V tool that Neuron2 wrote to identify telecine pattern breaks (Thanks!) but wanted to get a summary of only the breaks by frame number (and use a GUI instead of DOS) so I wrote a simple VB app to do this. It produces the frame-by-frame results too. I just thought that if anyone else used ParseD2V that this might be handy. I don't have a site to post the app and don't seem to be allowed to upload here, so if anyone is interested, I can email it to you.

starting dvd2avi project reader i got this message:
"Run-time error '713' :
Class not registerd.
You need the following file to be installed on your machine.
MSSTDFMT.DLL"

please:
i need to know where i find that .dll or anything that can install it!
i'm using win ME.
...and (if possible)
a little "how to" for the dvd2avi project reader.
i never used and don't knew it before!

I did mean to try this on my Windows 98 machine to make sure there were not missing library files (just did and there were 2). Go to Microsoft Support files (http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q193/3/66.ASP&NoWebContent=1&NoWebContent=1) and download the CAB file(s) named in the error message. Once downloaded, double-click, extract to a temp folder, right-click on the .inf file and left-click Install from the pop-up menu. Try to run again and repeat process for any additional missing files that may be mentioned.

I prefer to use Forced Film when re-encoding. For a movie with a high percentage of FILM (95% FILM or better), this is common. Some time ago, I noticed horizontal lines that would flash across the screen several times during a movie (bad field combinations). The potential for this to occur exists at points in a film where the telecine pattern "breaks". I tried to inverse the telecine process (IVTC) and found that this fixed most of these bad field combinations (but not all). Beings I decided I didn't care for these, I (after searching the forum for a while) started to use AviUtl to fix or clean-up these (if there were not too many). This program does what Neuron2's PadseD2V does, but provides a summary too and reports the frames at 23.976 fps in addition for the summary if desired. It identifies the frame numbers where the telecine pattern temporarily stops following the pattern it would for pure film having the rff flags at expected points. I use this program to check the resulting film by stepping through the film (with AviUtl) at the frame numbers identified to see if there will be any anomilies. If there are any, they occur within a couple frames of the frame numbers identified in the list (by the program). AviUtl will allow you to do a great many things to clean-up bad frames.

The program is simple. Once running, open a DVD2AVI project file and it lists the frame numbers (at either 29.97 fps or 23.976 fps) where the telecine pattern "breaks". If you want the same output as PARSED2V (not just a summary of the breaks), hit the "PARSED2V" button and save the file where you want. This file lists frame numbers at 29.97 fps without any other option (just like Neuron2's program).

I really didn't want to step on Neuron2's toes by putting this program out, as I am very thankful for his program and his vast knowledge and support of us all, but thought that is was handy enough for me that it may be for someone else too.

was needed only the MSSTDFMT.DLL to win ME.
i download and install the .cab file and the program is working perfect!
