What the difference between the title menu and root menu? I have no problem setting up the title menu in DVDMaestro but how do I setup the root menu in a Maestro project?

There is a Root Menu in every VTS you create. Not sure how Maestro works though.

When you play content and press Menu/Root on your remote, it will return to the last VTSs' Root Menu (or PGC to be exact).

I used for the first time Maestro and I am new in authoring.
When I play in PowerDVD the original movie, and I press Title Menu or Root Menu it showing up the same menu called here Title Menu.
In my reauthored DVD, when I press Title Menu the player jump to Title Menu like in the original DVD, but when I press Root Menu is going the start of the movie.
Also when I load the authored DVD in DVD Shrink appear the folder "Unreferenced Material" with the Title Menu file of 0.11 MB. An file with the same size I have in Root Menu of VTS 2 but when I want to play this files in Shrink, nothing happen.
This is the picture of the authored DVD which played fine in software DVD payers:

And this is the Original:

I don't know if that folder named "Unreferenced Material" can make problems on standalones because I didn't have one yet. :(

Exists any authoring program in which I can load an original DVD to see how is the structure because I want to learn how to reproduce it exactly?

It is difficult for me to answer this question without being accused of being biased, but the truth is the truth, regardless, and therefore my answer to your question is "Yes", there IS such a program. It is called TFDVDEdit 2, but it only runs on the MAC and it is quite expensive. Perhaps IFOedit may help you, too, but since I have never been a big fan of re-authoring, I have never taken the time to learn IFOedit.

My problem is similar to Mtz's. During playback using PowerDVD, when selecting Title Menu, the movie jumps to the correct menu as was assigned during authoring. But when I select Root Menu, the movie freezes for a split of a second and just continues playing.

Whats in your root menu ?

I think this is your problem:

First of all check connections under view options
And when you import you movie, audio, chapters and all that stuff, close that movie screen, and you should be left with connetctions window...
Now in your project press on the movie you just made and you should get connections of the movie and it should say:
Chapter1 Menu key:
Chapter(last number) End Action:

You have to make a connection between the menu you want to be root and the Chapter1 Menu key...
So when you pres menu key (or Root) during playback it will bring you back to it..

If you click right mouse button on the Chapter1 Menu key you can show advance sources where you can make that kind of connections for every chapter....but if you make it for the first one it will automatically work for others...

I hope this helps!!!

I think I understand now, paupers grave. I've never actually played with the menu keys in Maestro, ( didn't know what to use them for!!).
maa is right about the root being empty.

Thanx 2 all for the info.
