suggesting me a codec PLS HELP

Hi there! I wanna have fairly good quality videos in a webpage and I need the to be small. I would pick divX as 1st option BUT I am not allowed to do so because it must be a "normal" codec. Something most people have installed, like somo avi or mpg so that they dont need to get a new codec.

I don't understand much. Can u point me out a codec and where to find it? I have virtualdub to encode luckily.

This might or might not help but if u wnat to use divx and dont want users to have to worry about intsalling the right codes, use this DivxLight (http://www.divxlight.com/) Its small and free and very useful for novice users or ppl who dont understand codecs and such, other than that i suppose wmv is a good option
