i've tried making a backup of a dvd i own called "american movie" everytime i've tried it, it freezes in scenarist. i've found out that it's because of an audio problem that happens in DoItFast4U. When it tries to correct the delay on the audio for the extras, it says the source file is damaged. I'm just wondering how i can go about fixing this?

hi Justn and welcome to the forum!
there has been some discussion in the forum on corrupt ac3 files: see this thread for an example - Error with Doitfast4u - source corrupt (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55010)
what i would suggest doing is extracting the problematic audio file manually using dvd decrypter. the following explanation was given by Trahald in another thread
Well. as far as demuxing your dts track.. you goto ifo mode -> stream processing-> enable stream processing->.. disable all the other streams except the dts track (im sure you did all of this) last important step is to left click the track and check [ ]Demux
then you will have just the dts stream . not enclosed in the vob container ...only substitute the words 'dts' for whichever audio track you require. then run ac3 corrector to correct any audio delay on the file. then import this into scenarist and replace the problematic file.
hope this helps

hmmm...you may want to run dvd decrypter from the original disc rather than the iso and set the read speed to really slow and see if that produces a compliant ac3 file

you can try jsotos delay cut delay cut (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71545)
if that doesnt work there may be serious probs with the ac3.. you can try to change it to 6 wavs with besweet.. then encode it back to ac3 with scenarist..

i tried redoing it with a lower speed for dvd decryptor, but i still got the same error, and for some reason it didn't rip at the speed i specified

Isn't there a util out there that fixes broke ac3 headers? forget what it's called though

Try running the ac3 through besplit, or the GUI bespliced will also do the trick.
Of course, the afforentioned delay cut should also serve the same purpose.
Both have nice logging :)
