Hi,
I got a problem, trying to backup my old Jurassic Park collector's edition. The dvd is not like a new but looks fine anyway... DVD Decrypter extract it in iso mode without any errors. But scenarist failed during the multiplexing step:
"Info Multiplexing VOB Main Stream
Error Audio stream #1 has been finished before expected.
Error The audio file "K:\JP\VTS08\VTS__08_P02-80-192K-[0MS]-CH2ENGLISH.AC3" might be corrupted or shorter than expected.
Error (read = 11844 audio frames , expected = 11846 audio frames)
Error dvd_mux : DoMux Multiplexing Error
Error Terminated Multiplexing (jp-VTS_08_PGC_02_t.vob).
Error Can't read the input stream.
Error Multiplex is failed.
Error Multiplexing failed, Track "VTS_08_PGC_02"
Error MuxFromDB:MuxVTS failed
Error Multiplex failed
Error DVD Video files could not be created"
Is there a way to fix this please ?
thanks

Or make the video duration 2 frames shorter if you don't mind.

Don't use Scenarist 3, it's very strict about those frame lengths and as a bonus it doesn't really work with RA (wrong timecodes in script, etc.)

I only use scenarist version 3 and i do not have too much problems ;)

the difference w/ 3 and previous is on those errors, 3 will give you a warning/error message
2.7 and 2.6 probably never got to that point because it blows up before finishing import :)
but seriously, i've never seen problems either w/ 3 and timecodes?

Well, it works perfectly with the shoarthing's tip.
thks again.
Scenarist 3 seems to be more capricious than the older versions. I got more "ExitVOBUsize errors" which is a little similar with "Audio stream error". It may be due to RA but on my previous project "The russia house" i got an ExitVOBUsize error with scenarist 2.7 + RA or SceneAid and scenarist 3.0 + RA or SceneAid as well. RA & SceneAid seem to have a problem with small vob files (like 5-20sec lenght).
So I changed the duration estimated in RA - 1 frame by the original duration of the *.m2v file imported manually in scenarist. I also changed the duration estimated in RA by the original duration of the *.m2v file + 1 frame in *scp script... without any success. The only solution for me was to create a dummy file of this 7 secondes lenght VOB... because i'm not good enough to reauthor the whole content of a dvd.
thanks for your help guys
bye

Hi - tip came to me from D3s7, glad it worked for you. Must admit I have also found Scenarist 3.x slightly more picky than previous versions.

I installed Scenarist 3.0 about 6 weeks ago and have been using it without problem up till recently - getting exactly the same error as you guys about audio streams being short now though. Since it happened the first time it now happens with about 1 in 4 films I do - I must have just been jammy to start with. Is there a better way of fixing this without fannying aroung making dummy VOBs?
Scenarist 3 is so much easier on resources - you can actually do something else at the same time as authoring unlike the hog that is 2.7.

Possibly true for NTSC, false for PAL?
Those that have this error, are you dealing w/ NTSC material or PAL? I am a PAL user myself and I was wondering if I should try Scenarist v3.0...

No, as you can see from my profile I'm in the UK so only deal with PAL.

The problem doesn't apply to you, there's no drop-frame with PAL.
However, why switch? Is not like there are functions that you need from Scenarist 3. I don't see you'll gain anything by switching. In fact Scenarist to me it was slower (probably because it checks more stuff than 2.7). Stability-wise they're like the same.

Not so - like I said I'm a PAL-only user in the UK and am having exactly the same problem.

I was talking about the timecode problem, not the "ac3 shorter than expected" problem.

I wanted to try it myself, as I heard lots of people switching... I installed yesterday (kept a norton ghost image first), and I find Scenarist 3 to be a little faster than v2.7, despite some weird stuff w/ subtitles. Anyway, not much of an update, it should rather be named v2.8... or v2.71 :)

I found 3.0 Slower.. lol.. mighta just been me tho. The subtitle issue is big tho.. id only use 3.0 if it saved me work someplace else (ie non-seamless angle project) which would make reimporting the subs and fixing the scene/chapter times worth while compared to having to import it all with 2.6/2.7

I take that as a lot of people actually don't verify their results. For instance, a lot of the "scene releases" (supposedly done by the true "experts") still suffer common problems like wrong chapter points, wrong time-map and such.

Back to v2.7... Whats the deal w/ subtitle and v3.0? Simply trying to delete a sub stream hang my system... and all that dublicate .bmps
