Hi!
First excuse my bad English but I'm sure you'll understand me.
How EXACTLY using "Target Quality" ?
The general tutorial in GK is comprehensive but the issue concerning "Target Quality" is not. A lot of explanations about logs but nothing about that. "A maximum quality rip won't be split." That's all ! How to calculate EXACTLY Target Quality seems much usefull than understanding logs...it's my one and only opinion. I apologize.
Brief ! How to manage accurately 99 % ....or 76 % without spending a lot of time to check.
I used 3 differents AllInOne since 3 years and "Target Quality" does not exist. Could be an other denomination for the same thing ? Bitrate ? I suppose.

Thanks a lot.

Hello, and welcome to the forum-

"A maximum quality rip won't be split." That's all !

As you well know, since you read the tutorial, that's not true. Think of that percentage as another way of expressing the average quantizer. It follows this formula:

((MaxQuant-MinQuant)/100 * (100-quality)) + MinQuant

I didn't include that formula because people new to encoding DVDs to Avi wouldn't understand it. It has nothing to do with bitrate. It has nothing to do with final filesize. Some compressible movies with a Quality of, say, 80% might wind up at 1.5 GB. Other less compressible movies might take up 5 GB or more when done. If you want to fill 2 or 3 CDs, then don't use Quality based encoding. If you don't care about filesize, then give it a try.

How to manage accurately 99 % ....or 76 % without spending a lot of time to check.

If by "manage accurately" you mean how to determine the final file size, then it can't be done, at least not without running some extensive tests first, and even then the predicted file size won't be all that accurate. Two pass encoding is still the best way to fill the CDs. If I haven't answered your questions to your satisfaction, then please ask again.

OK. I understand.
I used several times GK. As fast as Speedy Gonzales + high quality
(using the last xvid).
I'm not a newbee neither an expert and I would just understand the way of making. Impossible to calculate. Well.
Many thanks.
