Looking at buying hardware divx/dvd player in near future. Possibly
Neuston Maestro or Yamada (if it becomes available in Aus). I did do a
search but am wondering if someone can tell me if i use this XviD build wether or not such players will support it?

I use AutoGK (used to use Gordian but too lazy now).

I can only speak for the Mediatek Chipset.
It is compatible to ni hao!, except, that you need to deactivate the packed bitstream option, which causes jerky playback and of course GMC, as no chip supports that feature with xvid at the moment.

Does the packed bitstream work on Sigma or Ess based players?

cheers, monty

Hi-

AutoGK doesn't use Packed Bitstream, so you should be OK with a MediaTek chipset based model. Mine is based on the first generation Sigma Designs chipset, and plays the XviD RC's fine, even with Packed Bitstream.

If you buy a standalone with an ESS chipset, you have to use the special install option for owners of those models, as they don't support the HVS series Matrices that AutoGK ordinarily uses. By installing with the ESS option, you'll then be encoding using either the MPEG or H.263 Matrices.
