Used GKnot 0.28.6 sucessfully several times. However, with newest VOBs, I can't create any audio source files after saving .avs.
- Track 1 and "Demux all tracks" are selected when creating .d2v file within DVD2AVI.
- In GKnot Bitrate tab, selected a "128" bitrate for audio A, checked "Calculate Frame Overhead," and selected "1x ac3/cbr mp3" for "1" frames.
VOB plays normally with audio in player. GKNot program paths have not changed. Grateful for your suggestions.

hmm strange... did you check if DVD2AVI did create any audio files?
if not please check if the DVD contains ac3 tracks and not another kind of audio (like PCM or MP2) those would require different settings in D2A
cheers

I see that the audio it is "Linear PCM" within DVD2AVI. Would you relate those different settings required? Thank you, SteVe

well just to make sure, check your settings:
channel format: auto select (or alternatively linear PCM)
dolby digital: demux all tracks
mpeg audio: demux all tracks
you should then end up with either a *.wav file or a *.pcm file (if it is the latter you should be able to safely rename it to *.wav iirc) and there should be actually no problem to load this file into gknot the same way you would use an ac3 file. gknot will adjust the besweet settings for you!

Pardon, but which app contains these settings? If DVD2AVI in GKnot 0.28.6, the closest I see is Audio > Output Method > Demux all tracks which has been checked throughout.

on the ripping tab of gordianknot hit the 'dvd2avi' button, then adjust those settings in the menu of dvd2avi...

SteVE,
I have checked those DVD2AVI menus numerous times to resolve the problem. I am using GKnot 0.28.6 with DVD2AVI 1.77.3dg1.0.0RC2 and I do not find any reference to "Channel Format."
"MPEG audio," I see no reference.
There is Audio > Dolby Digital Decode > Dynamic Range Control set to "Normal."
Audio > Output Method > "Demux all tracks" is checked.
Confirmed audio is PCM. Why can't I get an audio source file from DVD2AVI? Thank you

omg... ok this explains a couple of things! i am still using d2a 1.76 for a couple of reasons...
so if you don't mind, get a copy of d2a 1.76, load the files manually, and save a project. you can then throw away the d2a file (use the one you get when using the new version), but you can still use the audio file you get there!

It is possible that Track1 is not the ac3 track you are looking for. This weekend I was goofing around with some old DVDs and just seeing how many i could rip to my 160 gig hd before i had to delete em all, and only 1 out of 15 didnt have audio. I reripped it 5 times and finally looked at the text file created by DVDCRYPTER and noticed that track 1 wasnt the audio track i wanted, track 2 was. Changed it to track 2, and bamo, worked fine.
Also, I use a walkthru to convert to DIVX5, and one of the things it notes is not to check DEMUX ALL but to just check DEMUX. Different walkthru may offer different options, but *shrug* worth a look.

steVe - d2a 1.76 solved the problem and I have a .wav to work with.
Kambatt - I'll watch that DEMUX/DEMUX ALL setting.
Thank you, both.
